Inmate escapes prison in Northeast Philadelphia, officials say

Philadelphia police are searching for a prisoner who escaped custody while on work detail on Thursday, officials said. The inmate, identified as 34-year-old Gino Hagenkotter, was working a detail assignment in the orchard behind the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Facility (PICC) at 8201 State Road shortly before noon when he escaped custody, according to officials. Blanche Carney, commissioner of the Philadelphia Prisons Department, provided an update on the search for the prisoner.
